Morocco

ADF worked to strengthen Moroccan civil society and civil society organizations in 2001. Activities included an assessment of governance training programs and materials in Morocco for the UNDP, building NGO networks and coalitions, and building local NGO capacity in the areas of strategic planning and advocacy.

ADF collaborated with Save the Children, UK, in supporting the work of a Moroccan NGO network that advocates the rights of disabled children. In this activity ADF provided training and technical assistance in areas of strategic planning for advocacy campaign and in building a coalition of NGOs around this cause.

To reach out to the larger Moroccan civil society, ADF partnered with two highly active Moroccan NGOs that work throughout the country -- the Association Marocaine de Solidarite et de Developpement (AMSED www.amsed.org.ma) and La Ligue Democratique pour les Droits de la Femme (LDDF). As part of this collaboration, ADF provided training and technical assistance to seventeen 17 Moroccan NGOs on how to apply advocacy to their current issues. These seventeen organizations, which are spread all over the country, cover a wide range of interests that include women's rights, human rights, children rights, community development, and disability programs.
