Economic Infrastructure

ADF has developed Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) In Zrenjanin, the city center streets were paved, facades renovated, and attractive lighting of the district made it a hub of activity, day and night. The BID in Zrenjanin, which in 2005 had 220 business members that employed 1,200 people, became more attractive to shoppers, resulting in new investments and increased employment.

Through ADF’s local LED activities, the Sombor municipal government identified an industrial zone to be developed. ADF initiated the construction of a road network that enabled new investors to establish their operations in Sombor and employ the local population. Also, ADF financed the purchase of materials for the construction of a water supply in Indjija’s industrial zone. These activities improved conditions for business expansion in Indjija industrial parks by local and foreign investors.

A significant amount of ADF’s support in economic infrastructure has been for agricultural related interests. Local small business initiatives have been assisted by ADF in establishing all-weather new green markets and improving their conditions in 6 communities. Items for sale are now attractively and safely displayed in new market areas. Sanitary facilities and management premises were also reconstructed. New stands increased sales and employment.
